I have a heavy heart...

...but it's not my fault.

So, the gig at The Shed. Considering I was virtually paralysed with fear for the entire week leading up to the gig, I actually really, really enjoyed it. I laid a few ghosts to rest too, so hopefully from now on my songs may get happier.
Set:

  • Waiting For Answers
  • Portable Sun
  • 99% Sunshine
  • Superman Is Dead
  • Cloudbusting
  • Repeater (slow version)
  • We Know How, But We Don't Know Why
  • How Turns The Tide
  • I Will Run After You

I hastily had to remember how to play I Will Run... as I hadn't planned it at all, but crowd response was so good I didn't want to get off stage. There were plenty of mistakes, but that's live performance for you. I really, really enjoyed playing Cloudbusting so that'll stick around for the near future. Thanks to everyone who came and made some noise, and especially Piers who kept me company through soundcheck and the inevitable sitting around before a gig goes down.

We also discovered bluetooth on mobile phones to be one of the most fun things to do with your eyes open.

New/old movies being discovered/rewatched:

  • Day of the Dead
  • Dawn of the Dead
  • City of the Living Dead
  • The Wicker Man
  • Don't Look Now
  • Invasion of the Body Snatchers
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • Evil Dead 1,2 and 3
  • The Thing
  • Saw
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Memento

Not all of them good, but all valuable research as our film trundles ever nearer to dragging it's undead head out of the sand. Everybody dies, there's a whole section in Skegness and lots of blood. We haven't worked out the mechanics yet - y'know, stuff like filming - but oooh...it will happen.

I spent much of the past three months telling everyone how I expected to be disappointed by the Bloc Party album, like the cynic I am. But I was proved wrong.

Take it easy, chicken.
