So, here's the thing...

  • Readjustment is not always neccesary.
  • Actions have consequences.
  • People get scared.
  • I get scared.
  • Everyone has the biggest problems in their world.
  • Real life is unreal.
  • We are all running away.
  • Investigate the unnassuming.
  • Tomorrow will come and go.

Don't underestimate underdogs.

  • Dude, are you still working with Andy Neal? I've been trying to find a way to contact that guy for years - I knew him in 2001, but I'm in California now and it's hard to find Astral Soup stuff here. Every few months I try again to find him - this time I ran a web search for "Andy Neal" and "Lincoln" and found your post on the Autorain site about how you're working with him. Here on this site you mention him in March, but nothing since then. I have a CD of 'Small Part of Everything' by Astral Soup but the data is badly damaged and I've only been able to extract about 9 and half tracks of it, which unfortunately didn't include one of my favorite all-time songs, 'Racing Home'. As a result, I haven't heard that song in like 3 years and it drives me crazy. If you know any way I can get in contact with Andy, let me know, or if you don't trust me then let him know that Daniel Needham from Lincoln in 2001 (he knew me and Hyvarinen and Perkins and Olsson) is trying to find him and if he wants to contact me I'm at politicalbath@yahoo.com . I really really want to get my hands on a copy of 'Racing Home', and I'm extremely interested in hearing his work since then, including the stuff the two of you have been working on. Please let me know.

    thanks,

  • Wow, thanks for the interest! Andy is very much alive and well and has just splashed out on a beautiful new spanish guitar and posh pickup. We still have an on-off thing going down, less a partnership than a bit of fun out of which comes some good music. He's also helped to organise a festival which takes place locally this weekend, and the plan is for us both to play at some point.
As for 'Racing Home', it's on the rather wonderful "Dream Engine" from about 4 years ago, which featured some Astral Soup stuff like 'Nice Little Song' and lots of his solo stuff ('Lightchaser' is stunning and 'More Than The World' is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard). He was meant to be getting a website up and running, but I think that sort of stuff is fairly unimportant to him. God, I sound like his biggest fan, I'll stop gushing. But I will also mention you to him.
Our first collaboration - 'Day of the Triffids' - will be available when I have finished my mini album. Things are going slower than predicted as I've forgotten how to use all my equipment. Fear ye not, as recording elsewhere with someone who knows what they're doing (not always a good thing) begins tonight.
    Thanks again for the interest,
    aim for the head.
    Harry.

  • Do you know a way that I can contact him from California? Via web, or phone, or even normal post? I've been looking for a way to get his stuff for years.

  • Hi, Dan.
I've forwarded your email address to Andy and had a word with him - he does remember you - but I don't think he has access to a computer to mail you. If you want to send your details to my email address (sirharrymedium@yahoo.co.uk) then I'll at least get you a copy of Dream Engine sent out.
    Aim for the head,
    Harry.
